Instructions for Authors

The Sciencist is a journal that promotes excellence by providing an international forum for the publication and review of information generated through research findings and their application.

The Sciencist will consider manuscripts on any issue of relevance to science with the understanding that the manuscripts have not been published and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts published in The Sciencist become the property of The Sciencist and may not be published elsewhere, in whole or part, without written permission of the journal editor. The journal reserves the right to copyedit for style and format manuscripts accepted for publication.

 

Manuscripts

The Sciencist will accept manuscripts for the following categories: applied research, research basic to science, and research methodology.

Manuscripts may be e-mailed or saved on a 3.5-inch diskette or CD-ROM (R/W) and mailed. Diskettes and CDs that are submitted become the property of The Sciencist and will not be returned.

 

Format

Text should be 2000 words or fewer on doubled-spaced pages prepared in Microsoft Word using 12-point Times New Roman. Headings must be used to designate the major divisions of the paper. Up to three levels of subheadings may be used. Pages should be numbered consecutively.

 

Abstract

An abstract of 150 or fewer words must accompany each manuscript. Research abstracts should include the purpose, method (subjects, design and procedure), results, and conclusions drawn. Abstracts for other types of papers should include purpose, summary of key points and conclusions or recommendations.

 

Units of Measure

The International Metric System of Units should be used at all times (imperial or standard units may be supplied in parentheses).

 

References

References should be prepared according to the APA Style (6th Edition). References are to be cited in alphabetical order following the text of the article.

 

Tables

Tables should be prepared in Microsoft Word (.doc) and provided with a title and numbered consecutively in the text with Arabic numerals.

 

Figures

Figures should be prepared as Encapsulated Post Script (.eps), Post Script (.ps) or other vector based graphical formats. Figures may be adjusted for purposes of continuity.

 

Copyright

All manuscripts must be accompanied by the following statement signed by all authors:

The undersigned author or authors warrant that they have sole ownership of the work submitted, that the work has never been published, and that the author or authors have full powers to grant such rights. In consideration of The Sciencist taking action and reviewing and editing my (our) submission, the author(s) undersigned hereby transfer or/and assign all copyright ownership to The Sciencist. The author or authors hereby grant The Sciencist the right to edit, revise, abridge, condense and translate the submitted work.
